Wow! Two years passes in a hurry! Dave and I were excited to get a chance to head up into the northern part of New Hampshire-during the peak of leaf peeping season-to celebrate our marriage. The drive was incredible! Dave had to remind me to stay on the road because I was distracted by the hills of vibrant color. We stayed in a little B&B called Dana Place Inn just outside of Jackson, NH. We had a room-the “Tree House Suite” that had an awesome balcony overlooking the White Mountain Range and the Ellis River. It also had a really charming front door!
We made fondue in our room and relaxed to a movie on Friday night. Saturday we woke up and exchanged gifts of COTTON for year #2. I was impressed with Dave’s resourcefulness as we had no wrapping paper at home!
Next we had a huge American breakfast, grabbed our boxed lunch from the reception and headed to North Conway to take a ride on the historic railroad.
The little engine that could…
Who knew leaves came in so many colors?
This is Dave’s “toot-toot”!
Have you ever seen red like this?? After the train we took a walk in the woods next to the river, then ate a great meal at the Inn and then watched our wedding video. We had so much fun at our wedding! It was great to go back and re-live the whole huge event. I asked if we could have a party like that again sometime and Dave said “Of course, when our first daughter gets married!” Dang…I don’t really want to wait that long!
Sunday (our REAL anniversary) we checked out and enjoyed the scenic road home. This original covered bridge is the entrance to Jackson, NH, and only one car can pass through it at once, so all of the cars line up on either side and take turns going through. Pretty interesting.
Saying “goodbye” to a relaxing weekend is always tough, but we were so glad to have the chance to escape for a little while and celebrate having found each other.
Here’s to many, many more.
