On her thirtieth birthday, my older sister received a little surprise in the mail:
When she tore back the tissue, the Secret Thirtieth Birthday Girls Trip (that my mom and I had been scheming for weeks) was finally revealed!!
Now, Chelsea is an all-star birthday party planner. Seriously, look at this and this and this!! Planning a party for a party-planner takes a some attention to detail, and I’m pleased to say, she was thrilled with the invitation.
The invitation package included three items: Invitation, Schedule, and Shopping List.
The actual invitation, above, revealed the surprise, announced the theme “Thirty in the City,” and outlined the specifics of flight plans.
The Schedule was a laid out on four cards; one for each day of the trip. I printed them out two-sided and then simple hole-punched the corner and tied them together with twisted bakers twine. The back side of the cards shows off the trip logo, which was designed primarily by my younger sister, Emmy.
The front side contained the daily schedule of events. I have put hours of research into this trip, and we are seeing, doing, eating and shopping at some of San Francisco’s best! Most restaurant advice found here.
The Shopping List simply lists many of the boutiques that we will be stopping by during the weekend. Thanks to the blogosphere for these tips. I found most of them here and here.
How’s that for a thirtieth birthday surprise?
This time next week I will be sitting down to a special birthday dinner with my grandma, aunt, mom, two younger sisters and the birthday girl herself. I’ve got a whole lot of details to wrap up before then, but what fun it is!!
