(My sister Emmy using the illustrious iphone 4 while in San Francisco) |
Yesterday I was out playing on the lawn with Milo and a few complex friends (complex as in our apartments, not complicated) When my 2008 Motorola Razor rang it’s old familiar tone. It was Dave.
“Hi there!” I said.
“Hey, you want to go get iphones tonight?” he replied.
Not a usual greeting, you might think. But this question held a whole lot of weight with me. (*Long version begins here. For short version, skip this paragraph!) You see, back in New Hampshire we had decided to get iphones. Then AT&T didn’t have service at our house. So, we stayed with Verizon for another two years, literally counting down the days until our contract was over. July 17th, 2010. It was fortuitous for apple to release the new phone just in time for us to move on over. Then we remembered we were responsible adults. And with the current economic market uncertain, especially for recent Law School graduates, we thought it wise to wait to plunge into iphonemania until Dave had an official job offer. You know, so our family could live in our house, eat, and pay for our Face Time!
So, with that little question, “Hey, you want to go get iphones tonight?” Dave was actually shouting with glee, “I GOT A JOB OFFER TODAY!! WHOOPEEEE!!!”
We celebrated appropriately with a long awaited (and in Dave’s case much deserved) treat: iphones.
If I don’t see you for a while, I’m on the phone.
