No worries that this pile represents over a THOUSAND dollars spent on textbooks, and that we have several like it around the house. Law school is expensive. End of story.
Well, I thought that was the end of the story…and then yesterday I asked Dave if he ever considered selling them back. I thought maybe he was keeping them stacked next to his desk for some particular reason (like, making his office look extra official in the fall with lines of thick books on the shelves.) Turns out he didn’t really need them anymore and just hadn’t had the time between semesters to do anything with them as he is usually flying home within hours of his finals.
That’s when I decided to sign up to sell them on Amazon. Dave told me that he’d be the “investing partner” and I could be the “service partner” and we could “split the earnings…” as if that would be something new for us:) My one request was that if we happened to earn $60.00 that we would buy a home doppler to listen to the baby’s heartbeat (like, every single night…because I love hearing it that much!) Of course, Dave agreed, and I was off.
It took about a half hour to get set up and type in all of the ISBN numbers from the bar codes. Then, I got to choose my selling price. I just looked at the prices already listed and made mine cheaper. I mean, they’ve been chillin’ on the floor for two years, so really I’m just out to get rid of them! Within ten minutes I had sold one of the books. Whoohoo! I got all excited and printed off the packing slip in preparation to ship it this morning.
By the time I went to sleep we had sold SIX of the fourteen books I had listed! In a matter of hours I turned this pile of books into some pretty big bucks (about $300 of them;) You can bet we’ll do this again!
Books to bucks to baby’s heartbeat. Sounds pretty good to me.
P.S. I might have gotten on a selling spree and listed my like-new blender on craigslist as well (we got a new, amazing one for Christmas.) Someone’s on her way now to pick it up!
Books AND BLENDERS to bucks to baby’s heartbeat;) Even better!
