Counting Down to Gender
January 11, 2011
Two weeks from yesterday we will discover whether the little one joining our family will be a girl or a boy, or as we say in our house lately “Olive” or “Eliot.” Yep. We’ve got the names all picked out for both boy and girl! Olive has been number one girls name since we were pregnant with Milo, and Eliot came up sometime in the summer and we both fell in love. So, now we’re just waiting to see who it will be! I will be thrilled with either, and just can’t wait to KNOW so that I can start planning and decorating and such.
Since I am counting down the days, I thought that Dave and I should literally count them down. So, for Family Home Evening last night, we made a gender chain. Each of us took 7 papers and wrote in pink pen why it would be great to have our little Olive, or in a blue pen, why it would be great to have our little Eliot!

When I told my mom about my plans while chatting with her earlier in the day she said, “Who does that?” Well, I do! And Dave thought it was fun, though he joked with me that it is only a formality since I am certain that it is a girl🙂

We opened the first link after sticking them all together. It was blue for boy and read “we only need two more to make a B-ball team.” Guess who wrote that one?! Obviously not me as when I read it aloud I said “baseball” team, and was sort of confused for a minute, thinking that there were actually many more players on a baseball team!! Dave laughingly corrected me and set me straight on my sports. Maybe I need another boy around!!
What do you think? Boy or Girl?

**Update**
For record-sake, here are the links:

Why it would be fun to have a Girl:
-Our gender set will be complete!
-We can think of girl’s names other than Olive
-We can borrow all Chelsea’s clothes
-Girls LOVE their dads…
-Ruffles & dresses & hair bows & make-up!
-I’ll get to teach her to be a good woman
-No fear, we’ll have one of each (and can be done whenever!)

Why it would be good to have a Boy:
-The airplane theme stays!
-Milo will love sharing his dinos and trucks with a BROTHER!
-3 boys and 1 girl is good odds for Mama!
-We only need two more to make a B-ball team
-We save tons of $$ on weddings
-Milo + boy can share a room a lot longer than Milo+ girl
-I’m pretty good at diaper changing a penis!
