A Wedding Dress for Katie: The Bride Herself
February 1, 2012

Hello there! I hope your week is rolling along nicely. Ours has been so fun already (the sun has been shiiiining in DC and I’m loving it!) And you’re in luck, because I’ve got something exciting to share today.

Remember when I was asked to make a wedding dress? I sketched the design, made the pattern, cut and stitched, finished details, then sent it to Idaho for a September wedding. It was so fun to share the process with you, and today you get to see the real deal. Dress on bride. It’s a bona fide wedding dress now!

Have you ever seen such a beautiful bride?

Let’s all just gush a little bit about how cool it is to make things for people and have them turn out. This was a big project  to take on- especially from across the country, but I couldn’t be more thrilled with the result.

Okay, I’ll get out of the way and let you enjoy some breathtaking photos:

I love how the details of the dress come together so well and play off of each other. There isn’t a whole lot “typical” about it, yet it doesn’t look overdone. From the clean, wide v-neck, nude waistline piping, and elbow length sleeves to the rows of pin tucks, tea length, and vintage lace trim, it was just as she hoped. The most important thing to me was that Katie loved it, and she did. From the look of the photos, it loves her, too.

Did I tell you how I know the bride? We were missionaries together in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2004. This girl is the salt of the earth, and I loved being able to play a small role in the beginning of her forever.

Not as big of a role as him, of course.
