A couple weeks ago I shared about how I automate my regular household tasks into a schedule so that I don’t worry about them the rest of the week. Well, Thursdays are my floor cleaning day and from last week on, my hardwood floor cleaning will be about a hundred times easier because of this new mop.
For the last several months I had been inventing the perfect mop inside my head every time I cleaned. Do you ever do that? Tweak things in your head to be a little bit more useful to you? My mop would be lightweight, but strong. It would allow me to rinse and wring the microfiber easily while standing upright, and it would be simple to clean and easy to store. Then I discovered the EasyWring Spin Mop and it turns out that my invention had actually already been invented, and it is better than I imagined!
When we moved into our house, newly built with 1500 square feet of hand scraped hickory hardwood, I was really attentive to the instructions for taking care of the flooring. The recommended cleaning method was to “vacuum regularly with a bare floor vacuum attachment, then mop using a lightly damp microfiber mop and mild detergent. Do not wet mop.” What does “lightly damp” mean, anyway? I had been really careful about ensuring my mop wasn’t too wet, which entailed awkwardly tucking the handle under one elbow at the sink while I used both hands to twist and twist until the cloth felt “lightly damp”! It wasn’t a super easy process, but I wanted to care for my new floors as well as I could.
