#1. Recreation
There is a lot to see out there in the big, wide world. Most of us see it as a blur through the windshield. Getting a BIKE allows us to slow down and look around. Whether in the city or the wilderness, there is a lot of fun to be had pedal pushing.
#2. Transportation
With gas prices sky rocketing, everyone is looking for an alternative fuel source. There is a major one staring us in the face-well, at least when we’re looking in the mirror! Our bodies offer a ton of energy that can be used for transportation! For some that’s a 2-block pedal to the grocery store, but for others it can be a 20-mile morning commute. We will fuel our bodies with (ever more expensive) food for life’s sake. Why don’t we take full advantage of the energy that produces? And for those mom’s out there, this is a great activity for the kids! Don’t forget that you can pick one up for less on craigslist.
#3. Action
Purposeful physical fitness is an essential part of life. Especially in developed countries like America where the whole culture caters to inactivity and sedation. Hopping on a bicycle, whether indoors or out burns those extra calories while not straining joints as much as other exercise options. It is a great way to get started on an exercise plan if you haven’t already created an established regimen.
Synergy is when all of the pieces add up to more than their sum. With riding a bike, you may have one of these three reasons in mind, but you inherently will get the benefits of all three!
Now, the one barrier that you may have is expense. For that I will refer you to the wide world of internet shopping and your local classifieds. There is no reason to begin with a brand new bike. Try craigslist, Bikes Direct, and KSL.
