Confession: I’ve been of the school of thought that maternity schmernity when it comes to my own pregnancy. Though I’m slowly being converted to the fantastic elastic, once in a while I want to feel normal.
Today was one of those days. I just really wanted to wear my favorite skirt and sweater to church. The realization that I have a basketball-sized little boy in the way didn’t worry me…until I pulled my skirt to it’s correct position over my hips:
Um…someone help me here. The “rubber band trick” ain’t going to touch this one! No fear, I’ll make it work! This is how:First, one of my nice home-made bella bands (just an old XS Shade shirt with the top cut off–works like a charm!) Sometimes I double it over, but today I needed the length to smooth the high waist of my skirt.Second, another Shade as a cover for that absurd undone zipper and half-shorn shirt. This one still has sleeves and helps lend some support, smoothness and well…I did need to wear a shirt! Finally, the sweater, buttoned as far as can do without gaping holes. Throwing my little pink belt on top took me back to the good old days! Horray! I feel like singing “Defying Gravity” from Wicked and changing the words to “Defying Maternity!” …13 weeks to go, we’ll see how long the sentiment lasts!!
