You know I am always on the lookout for how to make life a little more simple, easy, and fulfilling. Give me all of the mom/business/self-care/home hacks so I can spend as much time and energy as possible doing things I really want to do!
These five household products have been absolute time, energy, and LIFE savers over the past several years. They are the things I tell friends and family about over lunch and the things that–if removed from my life– I would absolutely miss.
Whether you are a mom or not, a plant mom or not, a minimalist or not, I want you to know about some of my favorite simple household hacks:
Puj Cups
Every time someone new visits my home, they comment on these genius hanging cups next to our refrigerator. The simple, BPA-free cups are ideal for preventing a zillion water cups going through the dishwasher every day. We assigned each of our three kids a color, and hung them in order of age, vertically along our wall.
Each kiddo knows which cup is theirs, where it is at all times, and that they can use the cups for water all day long. Such a simple solution.
Shark Handheld Vacuum
I believe every house will benefit from a small, handheld vacuum for those everyday messes that don’t require the big guns. We have had our Shark upright vacuum for five years and I love it like another child. Seriously, I can’t get over how amazing it is. So, naturally when I went to find a handheld vacuum, I went straight for the Shark.
I love how sleek and minimal the design of this cordless, handheld vacuum. The suction is great, the canister empties with the slide of a button (one handed!) and the attachments are thoughtfully stored right on the base. Huge winner.
Sock Locks
There is not much more annoying than losing single socks every time I do a load of laundry. A few years ago, when I discovered these simple sock locks, the socks started making it to the other end of the wash-and-dry process as PAIRS! Thrilling!
I have this set that includes different colors, so I can assign each child one color and instruct them to stick their socks in the locks before tossing into the laundry. The kids are about 50% on using them, but I personally am 100%, and haven’t lost a single sock since I’ve begun.
Bluetooth Watering
My backyard garden has been my favorite hobby, and a little bit of pride and joy these past couple years. The very best thing I did for the garden was to install a drip watering system, complete with these bluetooth watering machines. I can set one hose up to water twice a day through the drip system, and still have a hose bib free for hand watering, using the power washer, or spraying down the kids on a hot summer’s day.
As an added bonus, when the kids are playing with the hose, they push the button for water, and it automatically turns off after 10 minutes, so if someone forgets to twist the handle to off, the water will still stop. It’s a great insurance against another flood.
Accordion Wall Hooks
After living in 4 houses in as many years, it becomes really obvious what household items have both form and function for easing everyday life. These accordion wall hooks are one of my absolute favorite solutions for wall storage + decor in one! I have several of them around my house:
- In the entry way for bags, and the dog leash, and the donation bag
- In the kids room for backpacks
- In my bathroom for baseball hats
They’re truly one of the most versatile and pretty systems for hanging, storing, dying, and creating space where there otherwise isn’t much.
I hope these simple household hacks make my life a little bit easier every day. By cutting down on the time I spend washing, watering, laundering, storing, and cleaning up, I am able to save resources of energy for things that matter more!
I’d love to hear some of your own favorite products that are household hacks. Let me know in the comments!
