I am always surprised by how expensive nice pillows are…and I have a hard time buying things that I know I can make! Turns out Anthropologie SALE linens are a good starting place for great looking, inexpensive and easy pillows.
I found these fresh looking white, brown and green place mats under a pile of dishes. Each cost $6.95. The one above was actually a set of four napkins for $7.95, that once sewn together create a great pillow face.
I matched the linens with a plain ivory linen fabric at JoAnn, and with 4 straight lines sewed this fold-flap back onto the place mat-turned-pillow and stuffed in an old pillow form. The green accent ribbon came wrapped around the napkin set, so it matched perfectly.
This is an easy, inexpensive way to add a little something to any room. I don’t feel bad making several sets to switch with the season or occasion.
