My good friend Sonya is READY (as you can see!) to welcome her baby girl!! Today we celebrated the upcoming arrival with a fantastic spring shower.
The invites were simple, with a fun machine-stitched stem and hand-sewn button bud. The inverse said ” Come celebrate the Spring Arrival of Sonya’s baby girl…” and had all the info, of course.
The table was set for a Saturday Brunch buffet
Solution for unsightly, yet functional vertical blinds that happen to adorn every single window in the entire apartment?? Spring Green POM POMS and Sky Blue butterflies! Fun Spring touches;)
The Spread
Spring Bouquet Fruit Kabobs
Mini Blueberry Muffins
Flower-Shaped Brown Sugar Ham and NY Cheddar QUICHE
(I used a flower cookie cutter to cut the pie dough, then pressed the center down into a mini muffin pan. The petals hang out over the top of the pan, and once I blind baked them, they were perfectly unique flower crusts!!)
Iced Mint Sweet Tea…oh, some Cadbury Mini’s, of course!!
I traded typical shower games for a fun, interactive shower craft. FLOWER HAIR ACCESSORIES, of course!! I prepared by cutting squares and leaves of felt, strips of spring fabric, and 3″ strips of adult nylons (which are perfect as infant headbands!!) I also put out some buttons, sequins, thread and needles, metal clips, many pairs of scissors and adult headbands, in case the guests wanted to make themselves an spring accessory to take home.
Everyone loved experimenting with felt and fabric flowers…
…learning from each other’s great ideas…
…and even discovering their inner-craftiness (which surprised a few!!)
The results were delightful. Sonya’s baby is pretty set up in the flower hair accessory department!!
The flowers also made great a arrangement, next to the sort of Tulip-Shaped Palmiers
Talk about easiest and most delicious party favor ever! Add a little cellophane, a machine stitched tag and hand written “Thank You!” and everyone goes home full, inspired, and happy!
It was a great celebration, and I can’t wait to meet the little spring chick.
Hopefully soon, right Sonya?!
