I’m lucky to have a very stylish younger sister, whose closet is always expanding. Once in a while she does some organizing and dejunking, and I try to be there with open arms to recieve whatever she’s flinging! I’ve even offered to pay the shipping for her to send a box of hand me downs to me sight unseen. This shirt is one she gave me last year…and I love it.
How cute is the round, gathered detail on the neck and back? I also love the light weight cotton, and the darling print. However, I didn’t love the baggy middle…especially since it hit me at the midriff and I always had to add a layer beneath.
Welcome To Summer, hand me down shirt! At a baby shower last week I spotted this darling yellow leaf fabric and thought “that is just right for my hand me down remake!” So, layers and layers of ruffles later, I have an updated top that has good fit, good length and a little flair! I alsoshortened the sleeves (it’s 100 degrees in DC this week!) added the new fabric at the v neck to tie it in better.
I’m loving the layers, ruching and ruffles. I may go back and remove a little of the elastic thread through the middle so that the shirt still hangs freely rather than stretching around the contours of my middle. And, I think I’ll take a pattern from the top of this top to remake myself a totally new version of the original shirt with some extra length and tailoring. If you see me today, you’ll see it in person…if not you’ll have to wait for the next photo shoot:)
