We ate waffles with blueberries, strawberries and cream. We packed watermelon, pasta salad, chips and salsa, and warm chocolate chip cookies, squeezed into the car with a bunch of our favorite tie-dye clad family and friends, and joined the thousands for fireworks over the National Mall. We laid blankets in the sun and picnicked in the shade. At dusk we donned glow necklaces and bracelets. Milo thought it was bedtime. We oohed and ahed as the pyrotechnic display. Milo and I squeezed each other in delight as the finale obscured the view of the Capitol and Washington Monument. July 4th is a fantastic day to live in the DC area.
