My little brother turns 26 today!! Horray! And an even greater celebration is in order due to his finishing his Bachelors Degree this week! Let’s just say it’s been a long time coming and I am absolutely thrilled for him. To say “Happy Birthday!” and “Congratulations!” I bought him a really nice suit coat:
Deep Navy Pinstripe, 100% Wool…
Hart Schaffner Marx, tailored for Nordstrom…
worn I’m sure, by a very successful man, and scooped up by me from Salvation Army at the 25% off customer appreciation sale to Repurpose into something a little more useful for my artist/photographer/skater brother, who indeed may never wear a suit to work:)
A laptop case for his new computer (a gift from my parents)!!
I’ll be honest. This was probably the most difficult repurpose I’ve completed so far! I actually made one and scrapped it because the measurements were just a little off…then scrounged some more material off of the coat to make a second (luckily the former suit owner was a large man;) Though very home-made looking, I think it will be well received and well used.
His new machine will be as cozy in this fleece-lined “suit” case as a senior executive in his padded retirement. It fits like skin.
I ensured the new case would have all of the important features of the original: silk-lined flap, single breast buttons, designer tag…
…front pocket for all post-grad essentials…
…back pocket for all other necessities…
…or REAL necessities!!
I love you, little brother. Wish I were there to BBQ with you tomorrow. Keep on truckin’
