Hard to believe Thanksgiving is almost a week in the past! My mom and I are getting set to buy a Christmas tree tonight…so we’re moving on! My gummy baby (so named for his/her nubby arms and legs just beginning to form in the last ultrasound…so darling!) is still sapping energy, but I am determined to get better at posting. I actually pulled out my real camera for Thanksgiving day. It was a little treat after using the iphone for photos for a month. Here’s how our wonderful day went down:
My father, who is the meat-master of the household, stuffed and rubbed the bird around 9 am. Real butter and fresh herbs…it was destined to be delicious from the get-go.
My mother, the eibleskiever-master of the household, whipped up a batch of our favorite holiday breakfast. I snatch them hot out of the pan, fill them with powdered sugar and devour.
The toddlers got messy.
The turkey roasted over coal and cherry wood in my father’s Big Green Egg.
Mattie made pumpkin pie. All by herself!
Mom cut veggies for the stuffing.
Emmy (the newlywed) made her first apple pies, with a little help from yours truly and my favorite crust recipe ever.
Chelsea and Maria did dishes and worked on rolls and potatoes.
Felix ate cereal from the floor, and wooed us all with his charm.
I took care of the cranberry sauce. Seriously one of my favorite parts of the whole meal! I did cut it into nice slices and garnish the plate with orange slices:)
Chelsea’s rolls came out of the oven.
The turkey came out of the egg.
I set the table, complete with letter pressed name cards that Missy helped me make.
We all took some photos.
My mother-in-law Melanie brought awesome yams and apples with mallows…that we tried to roast with a lighter. Needless to say, after two minutes we decided the pies in the oven wouldn’t be too harmed by two minutes of high broil to brown these babies:)
People found their places.
The newly wed love-birds smiled.
The old-wed love birds smiled.
The sometime-soon-to-be-wed lovebirds came late for dessert…and smiled.
Grandma helped Milo enjoy the last of the sparkle.
And we went to bed, full, happy, and thankful for a wonderful day.
Then I had to get up and experience a little of the dinner a second (most unfortunate) time.
And I went back to bed very very thankful for an extremely healthy growing baby.
