One of my best friends, Cassi, is awaiting the arrival of her little Ruby. She could be here any day now! I was so excited when Cassi asked me a couple weeks ago if I would help her make some girlish accoutrements for the babe. Cassi chose the most darling materials: a polka dot rosebud for the nursing cover, and a vintage Dick and Jane for the Boppy cover. Perfect for a stylish little woman!
I rounded the edges of the nursing cover to make it a little softer looking, and I used a whole yard of fabric, folded in half, so the back and the front are both the cute print (which I guess makes it reversible, as well…not that you need it to be.) I folded it up to send, then decided to snap a photo…hence the crisp-pressed lines:)
The boppy cover should have been relatively simple, as well, but I managed to complicate it by adding an invisible zipper next to the ric-rac. I love how it looks, but it is a little harder to zip than it would have been with either a normal zipper, or no ric-rac. Luckily, you don’t take a boppy cover off too often!
She asked me to use a minky chenille on the reverse side of the cover, and I love it! So soft and comfy. This will be the perfect place for little Ruby to enjoy an occasional afternoon snooze!
To finish it off, I sent Ruby a little love in the form of a hand-stitched heart tag. I might not meet her in person for a while (what, with the 2500 miles between us:) but I want her to know she’s already dear to me.
