Oh, how I adore ties. I’ve been especially fond on bow ties since Milo was a tiny lad. He’s worn a dozen different handmade prints and styles over his almost 23 months. So, when Shannon asked me to whip up those darling Bow Dresses, I offered to make her little boy a bow tie with the scraps. You know, to match his older sisters…
That idea took off, morphed a little, and ended up being not a bow tie, but NECK TIES for three little boys and their dads!
After hunting and hunting for a good online tutorial (and there are a bunch) I discovered that I am very picky about tutorials. I wanted the ties to actually tie, not just be tie-shaped. I wanted to use my machine, instead of hand-stitching six whole ties…
So, I came up with a pattern and a method on my own. It worked! Three tying-neck ties with velcro back closure for the tots, and three real, old-fashioned, functioning ties for the dads!
Now their Easter portrait will be complete. Three families, four dresses, six ties, and enough left-over fabric for three matching accessories (headbands?) for the mamas.
