We were lucky to be in town for the annual Brubaker family reunion this year. It was down at Palisades State Park (which I had never before heard of).
People-it’s awesome down there! After driving 2.5 hours through the middle-of-nowhere I-15 corridor, this beautiful lake and campground were like a mirage! Since I had no idea what to expect (not like I could have looked it up or anything… 😉 I failed to pack swimsuits for our bunch. Well, there was no keeping Milo out of the lake with all of his little second cousins running around, so he went diaper style. Sweet.
Cute Jake taught Milo to steer the purple sparkle paddle boat. Yep, purple sparkles! I told you this place is cool!
Had I had a suit, I would have swam out to the little deck and lounged away the afternoon. Some did. And then there was my intensely amazing cousin Laura who swam the length of the lake three times in her wetsuit and swim cap. Whaa? I would have drowned.
The paddle boat got great use…I wonder if there is supposed to be a person limit?
Papa (my dad) got this kayak for his birthday and got to take it out for it’s maiden voyage.
The beach is more pebbles than sand, but that didn’t stop the kiddos from playing and digging and building like crazy.
Looks like my sister Mattie, and cousins Martha and Claire (from my mom’s side of the family…) caught some fish! Either that, or they are just holding some fish for the picture…
My favorite photo from the day. Droopy, full-of-lake-water diaper, too big lifejacket, beautiful central Utah scenery, intense stare at the RV, which he was trying to help park by motioning to “go dat way, dat way…”Family Reunion perfection.
Okay, this one is pretty good too. Um, how many snacks have you swiped from my cousin’s children? A lot? That’s what it looks like:) This kid kills me.
The man who started it all, Grandpa Joe Brubaker. My dear grandmother Helen passed away in 2006. After a little dating (and a worry that he’d be robbing the cradle with anyone younger than 85!), Grandpa Joe found a new companion in sweet Dorothy.
Oh man Lukie, you’re adorable!
Josh and Dave hijack the camera…
Two of my three crazy sisters. We basically laugh at everything when we’re all together.
Often to the point of tears and all of our husbands and my dad looking around at each other wondering what is going on.
They’re the best.
Baby Eliot loved meeting all of the aunts and uncles and cousins. He is in good company. Our little brood left Friday night (then got caught for two-hours in road construction at the point of the mountain…what’s up with that?) and arrived home late. Most of the family, however, camped out. In another couple months I might be ready for that with the boys.
It looks like it was fun! I love my family.
