You know, I love a good Arts Festival. I like to hypothetically decorate my imaginary house with my favorite pieces, mixing and matching in my head as though I really was going to throw down the several thousand dollars that my pretend purchases would cost. I always consult Dave, and we make some very good fake decisions:)
This past weekend, at the Alexandria Arts Festival, we only perused the first two blocks in the short time we had, but I managed to find some great stuff:
Colby Smith Door Knockers are incredible!
I loved most of them, but really loved the pineapple. It is a symbol of welcome, after all, and would be so appropriate on my front door.
I was drawn in by a couple of Steven Ward‘s acrylics. There are a few I loved and a lot I didn’t. Isn’t it weird how that can be with the same artist? Anyway, I like those blue hued boats, and these pears would be lovely in my kitchen.
It was so fun to turn the corner in Karen Leffel-Massengill‘s booth and see a familiar Southern Utah scene. It reminded me a lot of all of the Utah art my parents have in their home…so cozy. I also adore that little red-roofed barn.
And then, as we were headed back to the car, I spotted something very familiar. This serene little boat was my very favorite painting from the Park City Art Festival this year! I was thrilled to see it again, and I was still totally drawn in. I took advantage of the opportunity to meet the artist, Danny Chu (who still doesn’t have a website) and I told him how much I love this piece. I also told him to try not to sell it for a few months so I can save my pennies (that gave him a good chuckle.)
Maybe fate is telling me to stop pretending and begin paying!
