It’s pretty amazing how quickly these months have passed. And how big my little boy is getting. Cliché, I know, but true.
Eliot is a pretty laid back dude. I think he has to be, yielding to the endless energy of his older brother! He is awake and happy during the day. He has discovered his hands, and they are constantly in his mouth. He holds his head up like a champ, even though he doesn’t love tummy time. He coos and bubbles and talks whenever I look his direction. He smiles easily these days, and Dave thought he heard the beginning of a giggle this week!
He is the poster child for the phrase “With perfect timing there is no crying.” If we swaddle him up right as he is starting to get tired, he will put himself to sleep just lying in the middle of our bed. If I miss that window, though, it takes a couple minutes of pretty intense rocking for him to calm himself enough to drift off. That bouncing has been a great leg workout for me! He is sleeping through the night (most days) until around 5 am, which is when I need to feed him to head out on my run anyway, so it works out splendidly.
Milo absolutely adores Eliot. I was a little worried about jealousy or displacement, but this little man has just taken being a big brother in stride. He still gets really excited to see Eliot in the morning, or after naps. He is my champion diaper and wipe getter (as soon as he hears a little rumble he runs to my room for supplies!) He makes sure that Eliot gets lots of hugs and kisses. I’m sure that their relationship will get better and better as Eliot is able to play more!
I was so worried about losing MY relationship with Milo after Eliot came, but guess what? It is as good as ever. And I am amazed at how the heart can just stretch out to love and love and love these little people. Being a mom rocks.
