Yesterday I had a brief love affair with a can of SOLO Almond Paste. An hour later out of the oven popped apple tarts, pear tarts* and almond macaroons**. Who knew such simple goodness existed in a can on the top shelf of the baking isle? I will make both again. Soon.
*I used the same recipe as apple and simply substituted pear. Delicious.
**The back of the Solo label modified this to contain only 1/2 c sugar, which is what I did. Also, it suggests adding 1/2 Maraschino cherry to each before baking. That sounds divine.
