Birthday Breakfast up Millcreek
July 30, 2009
Mmmmm. Fresh mountain air, morning breeze swishing through the pines, a plate of propane-grilled home cooking and good old Johnny running through my head:

“Well, a simple kind of life never did me no harm, raising me a family and working on the farm. My days are all filled with an easy country charm, thank God I’m a country boy. Well, I got me a fine wife, I got me old fiddle. When the sun’s coming up, I got cakes on the griddle. And life ain’t nothing but a funny, funny riddle, thank God I’m a country boy...”

The reason for the family gathering was some Anderson family birthdays. We got a pretty good crowd up at the Terraces!
Milo is a mountain man already.
It was fun for Mattie to come join the fam. She LOVES hanging out with Dave’s family.
The two Anderson B-day Boys. Dave’s dad Mike and cousin Jacob. Happy Birthday!!
Grandma Miriam organized the food and breakfast s’mores…she also led the Happy Birthday Song with this torch (made by one of the cousins)
There were lots of little boys present, Milo’s second cousins Owen…
…and little Otis.
Melanie impressed me with her Lemon-Blueberry Cornmeal Cakes on the griddle. They were superb!
Man, with the move coming fast and the summer disappearing, “a simple kind of life” is sounding pretty good. I relish every chance to just sit, snuggled up to my two boys.
