Saturday, we loaded up and headed to North Beach. It’s less than an hour from home, and the small bit of sand and water was a welcome change from the city.
I was so excited to spot this Sportbrella at Costco. It is seriously cool and with a child, shade is necessary! We sprawled out on our 7′ of home away from home and relaxed…
…oh wait, actually we took turns chasing this little beach monster around! I love sunscreen hair. And can you believe he still double fists the sand…maybe iron deficient?
This is Milo’s wind up for throwing. Pretty impressive. He gets plenty of practice throwing balls, toys, his sippy cup, his food, the folded laundry, my cookbooks…you know, everything! At the beach, at least, we’re happy to have him toss rocks all he wants.
This is another favorite Milo thing: the squat. I don’t understand how this is at all comfortable, but rather than just sitting down, he’s often hovering with bum just inches from the floor. Good for quick exploring and then standing to be off to the next thing, I guess.
We were back and forth from the water, to other people’s sand toys (sheepish grin), to the pirate ship!
Probably the best thing about North Beach was this awesome wooden pirate ship playground. Milo was in heaven! We tried the slide only once, and it nearly burned my behind right off (which might not be such a bad thing!) The whole inside was shady with benches to climb on and windows to look out of.
What a cool idea for a family beach, right? It could also be the scene of a very fun off-season birthday party…hmmm.
This is a common scene these last few weeks. Runny-nosed, point to mom, “eh…eh…eh” meaning “I want mom!” I’m not why I’ve suddenly become so popular, but I love the snuggles…okay, and the snot, too. I mean, he’s mine, right?
The sweetest follow up to any request is Milo signing “please” with an enthusiasm that looks more like “pleeeeaaaassssee!!!“
Dave’s last day of work is tomorrow, and then we’ve got a lot more beach ahead between this weekend and the beginning of September when school starts. We’ll soak it up while we can!
