DIY Kids Dish Towel Apron
November 15, 2017

When my work as a creative lifestyle blogger and freelance content creator collide with my work as a mom of three, I’m a happy girl. I try hard to create projects and crafts that can benefit the whole family and add to, rather than take away from, the love and joy and togetherness happening at home. I created some kids dish towel aprons last year, and my kids have loved them to pieces. It felt like a good time this Holiday season to make a new batch, changing the design slightly to make them even easier to make and use to share over on the World Market Blog.

And of course one I finished the aprons we decorate cupcakes to break them in.diy-kids-dish-towel-apron-one-little-minute-20diy-kids-dish-towel-apron-one-little-minute-12 diy-kids-dish-towel-apron-one-little-minute-13For Plum I used a sweet, colorful holiday kitchen towel from World Market, and for the boys I chose more neutral colors and patterns. Everyone was over the moon to get their new apron tied in place because that meant time to decorate cupcakes! I whipped out my favorite chocolate buttercream frosting  and vanilla cupcakes from the Smitten Kitchen cookbook (my all-time fave), then let them go crazy with the sprinkles.

And crazy they went. I love how kids know instinctively that when it comes to sweets more is more. Ha!diy-kids-dish-towel-apron-one-little-minute-17 diy-kids-dish-towel-apron-one-little-minute-14diy-kids-dish-towel-apron-one-little-minute-18We had lots of smiling and laughing and licking frosting from the tops of the cupcakes before this photoshoot was over, and I couldn’t have loved it more. These crazies make up my world and are my reason for working hard. I do my best to stay present in work and present with them, and fill up my days with a feeling of joy and fulfillment in the moment, rather than just collecting the achievement of my goals but feeling empty or dissatisfied along the way.

It’s a lesson I continue to learn, and something I am working towards. Living the life I imagine in the small moments of my everyday.

Getting a little work done while we played was a fun win-win.
