Last night I sat up waiting for Dave to arrive from his late class (boo hoo night classes!). While I waited, I watched THIS video of chef Michel Richard make THIS Raspberry Chocolate Genoise Dome Cake. I wasn’t immediately in love with the cake. It’s sort of a funny, maybe grandmother-ish looking dessert akin to anything made in a jello mold. I was, however, impressed by the seemingly simple ingredients for such a decadent looking and sounding dessert. HELLO! How did I never realize that chocolate mousse is as simple as MELTED CHOCOLATE folded into WHIPPED CREAM and chilled? I seriously hunt this dessert down in restaurants and pay way to much for it because it is “something I don’t make at home.” Not so anymore. This morning when I saw that my book club, Capitol Pages, needed a last minute host, I volunteered. It was a great excuse to put my Genoise skills to the test. I was pretty happy with the result:
Needless to say, it was a hit.
