We have a family! We had almost forgotten…these three months away have felt like longer. Kate and Eric bought their ticket home from NH months ago, and we were happy to find out that they had finally bought a ticket out here too! They spent the fist couple days in Boston with our mutual friends Sarah and Matt.We all spent Saturday together. We ventured out to Lexington and Concord where the first battle of the Revolution was fought.
We found a fabulous tree with lots of shade and spent the afternoon looking over the beauty of the green, enjoying a delicious lunch al fresco.
Hard salami, fresh veggies, hummus, crusty French bread and sourdough, provolone, apples and jelly bellies…the perfect picnic! This is Matt with an UGLI. It is from Jamaica and has an interesting orange/grapefruit taste. I would love to wake up to ugli juice every morning! We had an unfortunate flat tire on the freeway en route to Cape Anne. That detoured our plans to Sears Auto Center, who couldn’t repair the flat and didn’t have the tire size. They failed to tell us any of that until we had spent the estimated hour browsing in a giant DSW…so, we drove on the doughnut all the way to Boston for dinner and home to Concord.
Sunday was relaxing. Church and all hands on deck in the kitchen for family dinner. Then Eric, Kate and I went to the coast on Monday and left Dave fending for himself in his first real law classes. We ate Monday dinner at our new favorite restaurant (it’s the first one I’ve tried here that I definitely want to return to!) The Barley House. We stuffed ourselves with 4 different burgers, each split 4 ways. MMMmm.
And for dessert? Granite State ice cream cones. This is the best ice cream in Concord-we’ve really tried all of it! The free coating of chocolate sprinkles is just added fun!
Could you resist?
Kate, Eric…we love you! Thanks for being our first visitors! It was good to remember that we’ve got family! Now, everyone else at home…COME SEE US TOO!
