First Week
May 9, 2009

Milo is ONE WEEK OLD!!!
It was a week of firsts.
First family portrait.
I don’t know how we left the hospital without a single photo of the 3 of us, but…hey, what can you do? The L&D was a different type of experience, and I wasn’t sitting upright grinning in my hospital gown until over an hour after the actual birth! So, this is it!

First sink bath. (He liked his second a lot better:)
Did you know it’s now okay to give newborns actual tub baths before the cord has fallen off? I was a little surprised when the nurse filled a basin with water to wash Milo off…she just held him down in there, little cord clamp bobbing on the surface! Funny how some traditions are just…well, traditions.

First booties.

Thanks to grandma Melanie, Milo had perfect little knit booties to wear from the first day. They fit his tiny feet perfectly!

First walk around the neighborhood.
Oh, it feels so good to get a little fresh air after spending a few days indoors healing and resting. Milo kept his eyes open, just checking everything out along the way…
First shopping trip.
We ventured a few miles up the road to do some light shopping. The trip started and ended with sitting in the parking lot nursing. I am a full-time Holstein but it makes for a very content baby! Milo was soo good I told Dave I’d have to avoid the temptation to shop more often!

We can’t wait to see what week 2 has in store!
