Fall has fell…fallen…or something like that! It’s rainy and rainy here in the DC area today, so not much leaf peeping going on-except through my window where my tree is turning all sorts of beautiful shades of red and yellow. It’s in that awesome in-between stage where each leaf has a little green still, but spots of color are slowly taking over. There is someing so refreshing about the change of seasons!
Not only do I want to pull on jeans (too bad my own still don’t quite fit:) and sweaters, but I want to eat warm, rich, satisfying foods. I finally feel like I’m back to myself in the food department. I am enjoying every aspect of cooking, like I did before being pregnant.
Here’s a few of the things we tried this week:
Crock Pot Chicken Cordon Bleu. You know, that one that has gone viral on Pinterest? Well, we tried it, and it did not disappoint. I served it with some garlic-roasted brussel sprouts that I quickly threw together in the frying pan, rather than in the oven.
Simple Squash Soup. This is a perfect, easy peasy tip-of-the-hat to welcome Autumn.
Steak Sandwiches. We’re not big meat people, but occasionally I throw some redness into our diet. I followed Deb on this recipe all the way down to the Mustard-Mayo, then she lost me:) These were great, and I sent Dave with a steak sandwich leftover today for lunch. It looked just as good this morning as it did last night!
One night Milo and I also ate at Eamonn’s Dublin Chipper in Old Town Alexandria, while we waited for Dave to finish up at work. The fish and chips remind me of some I had a few years back in England, just without the eyeballs and bones;)
Also, I’m doing some site construction, and the tabbed pages at the top of the blog have all been recently updated. So, if you need some additional recipe help, check out the page i cook.
Hope you glean some meal-planning inspiration!
