Summer is fast approaching! It’s the perfect time to bust out a couple skirts for the littles. I made this gathered skirt with attached bloomers as part of this “One Pattern, Four Ways” post last month, and it’s super easy and fun to make.

As with the other three tutorials in this series of pattern fusion, we begin with the perfect diaper cover pattern. Once you have that printed and ready to go, read on for the full instructions to add the full skirt to the top!
To make this skirt, you will need about 1 yard of your favorite fabric, and elastic.

With right sides together, stitch the sides of the skirt together.
Turn the leg openings under and again to form a casing for the elastic, stitch along the edge leaving about 1″ open for the elastic and thread the elastic through. Close the holes.
Turn under the bottom of the skirt and hem. I used a rolled hem foot for ease, but you can hem with a double fold as well.
Run two sets of basing stitches through the top end of the skirt and pull gently to gather the top edge.
