Day 5
#1. When asked “How’s the neighborhood?” he responded “…um, yeah, you know, it’s changing a lot.” Great! No thanks!
#2. $2400 a month.
Day 6
#1. Cheap, industrial looking. Great patio overlooking the flat grass in between the two other brick buildings. Sort of feels like prison. But cheap…luckily mom reminded me on the phone that I may want to choose something that will be nice to come home to. This isn’t it.
#2. Weird neighborhood. Landlord has stylish glasses, but the apartments are not great.
#3. 10 minutes from Old Town Alexandria? Less than 1 mile from a Metro? The crown and foot moldings are all painted white, rather than the same beige as the walls…nice detail! 11 other LDS young families with kids live in the complex, 4 of them GW Law students? 2 bed/2 bath, W/D in the unit, balcony with shade from a nice tree? In our (albeit increased since we got here) price range? We’ll take it!!
Like knocking doors on the mission, just when you’re about to give up you’ve got to try just one more and you’ll hit on the answer to your prayers. We have found a home!!
