One year ago baby Eliot decided to finally join our family (after a little prodding because he was taking his time…) Because my pregnancy was so hard, I imagined that he would be trouble, and I couldn’t have been more wrong. He is sweet, adaptable, and so wonderful. He has grown up quietly in the background of our family’s busy life. Being the second child, I haven’t spent as much time focusing on his milestones, but he has developed into a curious and interested little boy. I laugh thinking back about how old I felt Milo was when he turned one. I don’t feel like Eliot is old at all. In fact, I love that I feel like even at one, he’s still my baby! I don’t want him to grow up too fast. I adore his speedy crawl, and how he thinks it’s hilarious when I patter the carpet behind him as if I’m chasing him. His fingernails are always a little long (they grow so fast!!) and even though it hurts a little bit, I love how when he’s riding on my hip he immediately grabs the soft skin on the inside of my arm. He still tries to eat my nose when I lean in to kiss his face, and he laughs when I nuzzle him. Eliot isn’t walking yet, and I don’t intend to rush him! I think it’s fun to hold him and snuggle him to me. He’s a huge eater and I am always floored by how much he can eat. A lot. He lights up when he sees his older brother, and takes Milo’s wrestling really well. Their brotherhood has been such a cool piece of this last year. One cute boy melts my heart. Two loving each other? I’m a very lucky mom.
I am excited to celebrate baby E today. Probably with lots of food and a trip to the soft playground before his pool party this evening. Happy Birthday my little love!
(After the festivities today, Dave and I are preparing to head off for a weekend away without the boys…our first ever! We’ll be trying to survive completing our first triathalon on Saturday, then recovering in some hot springs. Pretty awesome. Have a great weekend, I’ll catch you next week!)
