This time around, it really is President’s Day (sheepish grin:)
We celebrated this morning by beating the crowds to Mt. Vernon, Mr. Washington’s farm and estate. It is a beautiful 20 minute drive down the river from us, and we were lucky to get there right as it was opening. It’s free today, which means a bazillion people!
Going early meant less crowd, but more cold! It’s back in the 40’s here, and we miss the sunny weekend already. Get me to next Monday and Florida, please:)
The boys and I ventured down by the water, where there is a working farm and a really amazing view of the water.
Milo loved all of the “baa” (sheep.) He greeted each one with an enthusiastic “HI!”

In the summer you can take a ferry from this dock up to Old Town Alexandria. Maybe we’ll give it a try come the season. Can you believe how gray it is? Impending rain, I think. We enjoyed wandering the grounds for a couple hours, then had our picnic in the car on our way home.
A fun Holiday outing, and now we’re happy to be snuggled back up indoors. I think I’ll put some hot cocoa on and get working on some bow ties for Sarah’s upcoming wedding. Hope you all have a nice day, too!
