Boston on the 4th of July-a must do!
Our friends Sarah and Matt live in Cambridge, right across the street from the hospital where Dave was born. This was the first time he’d been back- completing a 28 year full circle!
We spent the afternoon visiting the patriotic sights along the Freedom Trail in downtown Boston. This is Quincy Market- part of the old, colonial town center.
We fed the fat squirrels in The Boston Garden rosemary crackers and were surprised when they took them straight out of our hands, ate them in the nearest tree, then ventured back for more. I think they’re used to peanuts and hope the gourmet fare doesn’t hurt their tummys!?
We had a big group sitting on the banks of the Charles river, listening to the Boston Pops and Rascal Flatts concert. Some were locals, some visitors. I think everyone was equally impressed by the great concert and absolutely spectacular fireworks display.
I had never seen fireworks like I saw this year. There were some that went off and dropped parachutes with strings of fireballs underneath that slowly drifted down. Some went UP slowly, sort of looking like giant jellyfish in the sky. My favorites are the ones that burst into little sparks and then all of the little sparks spin off in spiral patterns. Quite amazing. God Bless America!
