Long time, huh?
I am happy, but still mustering up motivation to do more than the very basics. You know, shower, eat, move from the couch…
On Monday I made my way across the country with little Milo and we’ve been stationed in the room that was originally Taylor’s, then mine, then most recently Emmy’s, before having all of her furniture moved out into her first little married apartment. It’s been equipped with a plush aerobed and the crib that every one of my five siblings and I called home back in the day. We’ve been quite comfortable.
Dave joined us on Thursday and jumped smack into the middle of the wedding whirlwind.
The whirlwind that entailed: wrapping lights around beams and ceiling posts in the urban venue that my sister chose for her reception, that I have lovingly dubbed “ghetto chic,” folding paper into pinwheels for the backdrop of the studio photo booth, putting finishing touches on all of the wedding party attire (most of which, including the dress, was stitched my my mother,) gathering cake plates for the cake bar, adding hanging wire to the frames for the photo wall, picking up vintage furniture rented for the event, doing the flowers, collecting old books for the centerpieces, painting blocks of wood with chalkboard paint for the cake labels, moving and organizing around thirty tables and a few hundred chairs…
When you have specific taste, like Emmy does, and a creative family, like Emmy does, the party becomes a two-month exercise in do-it-yourself projects. And, last night, it all came together.
I can’t wait to share photos. Only, I didn’t take any. Can you believe it? Dave can rarely get a bite of hot dinner before I snap a few shots…but I think my photography has slipped to the bottom of the priority list, right next to doing my hair:)
I’ll gather a few and be sure to share sometime soon.
Other than wedding, I’ve been…um…catching up with family, trying to eat at some of my favorite places even with a tender appetite (Porcupine was a bomb, Cafe Rio went so so, Granato’s sat very well…) and, well, that’s about it.
You’re not missing much!
I’ll see you soon.
