and life is so much better! We decided that life is too short to spend 40 hours a week at a place that I don’t enjoy. So, since last Monday (my last day) I’ve started sewing again, created an Etsy shop with my designs, gone apple picking with Katherine Mackey (Dave’s darling cousin who just moved to Boston), and participated in the Concord Arts Market.
Blue Olive Design Company. Good name, simple. Leaves it wide open for me to sell anything!
Yay! A whole, beautiful afternoon in the orchard. We picked everything-it all looked in ready! It wasn’t until the lady at the check-out said ” oh, I didn’t know the Empires were in season already!” Um…they probably aren’t!
We each picked a 1/2 peck…I think that’s about 5 lbs.
mmmm.
So, because I have limited inventory currently (as I just started sewing again this week!) I told the coordinator I was willing to share my booth with another vendor. Pam was a nice, sort of rough around the edges woman who “expresses herself” through her paintings (see left of above photo) All day long I hear her explain her paintings to passersby: “this one is about greed, selfishness and the destruction that comes with a love of money.” ” This one is about anger, depression and anxiety.” “This one shows the thoughts floating around in my head…floating, looking kind of like dolphins…” and my personal favorite: “With this one, I just felt like making a statement.”
My little corner of the tent was a lot less angry. I had a few pieces hung on rods and a big mirror for people to try things on, or see how the colors worked. There were several who took advantage. I gave out a lot of business cards, enjoyed the people-watching and soaked in some sunshine. It was fun…way more fun than work!
