James Taylor is on tour this summer! I was a little disappointed that we would miss his Salt Lake show until I realized that we’d be back here in time for his Tanglewood show-in his hometown! The show was sold out, but we found tix on ebay and craigslist and started off the holiday weekend with a trip to the Berkshires. In classic New England fashion it rained from 3:30, when we arrived at the concert, until 7:00, when James began to play! Our friend Sarah came with blankets, but were a little unprepared for the downpour and spent the first hour under this blanket. It was like a great, wet fort!
After a while holding up the wet quilt was too much, so we invested in a huge Tanglewood umbrella-sort of a forced souvenir of the concert. Most of the other 20,000 people sprawled out on the 500 acres of lawn surrounding the shed got the memo and came prepared with umbrellas, tarps, tents and ponchos. We’re just getting the hang of this rainy thing- so far we’ve seen 2 concerts with 2 rain showers…slow learners!
I grew up listening to James Taylor. I love his diversity from mellow Sweet Baby James to upbeat Your Smiling Face -and as much as I adore singing along on the ipod or in the car, nothing compares to his live show! He is an incredible performer.
All in all a fabulous show. We’re enjoying ourselves more and more…
