I had always heard that “you are never the same” after having a baby. Yep, pregnancy does weird things to a woman’s body.
I, for example, ended up with stick-straight eyelashes on my left eye. The others still curl back naturally almost to touching my eyelid…but not the left. For them I invested in a tool that looks sort of like a medieval torture device and does not really work to bring the wayward lashes into curl like the others. I only use it on occasion (like, less and less often now that I’ve all but forsaken my get ready routine due to the late night post-exercise showers. An okay trade so far.)
My top teeth have also drifted out of alignment since Milo was born. I had no idea how far until I decided to follow in the footsteps of my habitual-retainer-wearing lovey and stick mine in last night. To say it did not fit would not paint an adequate picture of the moment. I had to take it out and ask Dave to examine it for any signs of obvious damage. “Did it somehow get bent? (while in it’s hard case, tucked inside my toiletry bag in a cardboard moving box…)” I think what has bent is my bite.
Luckily, I feel like those and all of the other quirks that have stuck with me since conception are all worth it.
Especially in the morning, every morning, when it feels like Christmas:)
