Dave’s sister Sarah is getting married in one week! She went ’round and ’round about bridesmaid dresses, and finally settled on this one from eShakti. Darling, right? Maternity, however, it was not.
Being in my current state, I decided to order a size XL and alter it to fit once it arrived. It was a good decision. The XL fit well over my growing chest, with about six inches to spare. It was also long enough that even raising the waistline from natural to empire, it would still be long enough to fall over my growing bump and hit around the knee.
The alteration involved completely removing the side zipper, which in my laziness I was reluctant to do. But, after tinkering around it, I realized there was really no other way to take in the sides evenly. I cut about three inches from the bodice, right above the skirt, and then took in the sleeves, side seams and back darts to fit.
Once the skirt was sewn back onto the bodice, and the zipper replaced, it was as if I was made for maternity! I can’t wait to wear it for the big event!
