Monday in the City
March 14, 2011
I love DC. The monuments and statues and bridges and memorials just never get old. We feel so lucky to live so nearby all of the fun. On the way to the Botanical Garden this morning, I got some fun photos of my little shaggy-head. I love this first one. Reminds me  of Abbey Road…DC/toddler style, of course:)
Here he is showing off one of his new favorite pass times, jumping. Of course he has a stick in his hand. One of many he enjoyed picking up and tossing along the path.
Dave told me this morning I need to do something about his hair, because it’s always in his eyes. So, I tried a little hairspray, which blew out with the breeze in about two minutes. The obvious thing would seem to cut it, but we’re growing it out a bit, so I’ll have to figure out something else. He’s pretty cute though, right? Hair in eyes and all.
Ever since potty training began (and we’re still in the middle of it!) Milo has been fascinated with “pooh pooh.” He pointed it out all along the Capitol Pond, and might have gotten his fingers a little dirty. Luckily, I had some wipes and hand-sani close by.
Once in the Botanical Garden, his explorations continued. I kept trying to teach him to “use your eyes, not your hands…” but that didn’t work very well. I just kept him clear of the endangered species:)
When our friends arrived, he became more occupied. He loved holding little Avi’s hand!
The whole place is spectacular. It felt like spring and summer and a tropical vacation all tucked into one relatively small greenhouse. This trip I was especially inspired by the herb garden. I can’t wait to go pick some out in a week or two, and I think I’d like to grow an Herbes de Provence pot like this one. Isn’t it a neat idea to grow all the Herbes de Provence together?
I’ve got to get Milo together with older girls more often. If not for the fun company, than just to have him learn to like to take photos! I was stunned he wanted to sit and smile and actually look at me for this shot!!
Then, when Eden wanted to take a photo with the “huge flower”…
…and Avi did, too…
…Milo decided he should be next, though he had other plans for his portrait!
What a fantastic way to start a day, and a new week! I decided last weekend that I really do better when I over-plan, although my nature is to be more spontaneous with my activities. So, I’ve got a few fun plans made for this week, and can’t wait to make more!
Happy Monday!
