Here ‘s how it went down:
For two weeks before Dave and I moved into our new space, we lived with the Livingston’s. They are an impressive bunch who treat each other with kindness, enjoy each day’s adventures and have restaurant quality meals at every meal…it’s incredible! We loved spending time with them, and Milo kept them quite entertained as the centerpiece!
September 1, 2009. Dave and I pick up the Penske from our good friends the Bohns, with whom we shared the expense of the 22′ footer. This wonderful sight greeted us.
Luckily, we had some great help with the unloading. The Livingstons, Woods, and Kunzs all showed up to help out and everything was out of the truck and up in the apartment in no time.
Of course, Sept 1 was also Milo’s 4th Monthday, and Missy brought him a little treat! We all sang “Happy Monthday” while he looked around a little confused!
The apartment:
Nothing says WELCOME like a long, bare hallway, right? This is the entry to my home. Let’s just say it was not my favorite part of the house…
But after some love, a rug, some mirrors and frames it’s nice. I think I still want a little table where the silver chair is, so I have somewhere to put fresh flowers and my candy jar, but this will do for now:)
The living room. Filled with boxes. Somehow I found a place for all of that stuff!!!
and we’re feeling quite cozy in here. You can see how the living room opens up to the dining area…and all of that light is coming from the sliding double door to the porch, which I’ll show you when it’s done;)
Here are the Livingstons in the dining room pre-move.
and the same space post-move. The many kitchen cupboards were a little high to comfortable put dishes in them, so my dishes are all stacked on that wire stand under the mirror, and of course there is no room for food IN the kitchen, so I’ve got my dry pantry and pot rack here, too.
Kitchen/laundry…
Kitchen/laundry with a little color and cover. Thanks to my mom for buying that great grosgrain ribbon curtain, never using it and stashing it in her laundry room for me to find this summer and bring along home with me. It fits perfectly to HIDE my laundry room!!
The other side of the little kitchen… Luckily, everything is very clean, and recently updated, so it’s pretty easy to settle in.
Again, lack of drawer space leads to decorative storage. Hot pads on the wall.
Milo’s room. Don’t you love the tree out the window? It’s my favorite thing.
Okay, there’s a lot I love about Milo’s room…especially that he finally has one!
Everything just fits into this space…it’s nice and cozy. I adore my rocker/recliner and don’t even mind the middle of the night cuddle/settle/nurse sessions in this baby. (Yep, we’re back to waking up sometimes…somehow I think moving 4 times in his 4 months has upset Milo’s sleep schedule!!)
Birds and planes for my little superman. I’ve got his crib set up on the highest setting now, so the bumper is super high…that will all go lower as he grows up a little. For now, it’s saving my back!
This bookshelf was my afternoon nap project last Tuesday. Every room has these ugly stick-out airvents, and in Milo’s room there isn’t extra space for a traditional shelf, so I covered plywood cut to size, then screwed on these IKEA “ribba” shelves. Now, all of his books are off the floor, displayed super cute, and within reach for me while sitting on the chair! I know once he’s mobile they will often be back on the floor, but I like that he’ll be able to get them, and once he’s destructive I can take it and hang it on the wall!
Yet to be pictured: bathrooms, master suite, porch, flip side of living room, closet sewing room. I’ll post about these when there is something wonderful to see!
In the meantime BOOK YOUR FLIGHTS! We’re ready for visitors!!!
