Have you noticed this little red barn off to the right of the freeway at Parleys Summit? It was property of Dave’s dear grandfather, Milton Weilenmann. He passed away last November and the land where this charming historic building stands is soon to be transformed into a charter school in his name. Unfortunately, that means downing the barn…soon. So, last weekend the family went up to claim some heirloom treasures to take home.
Melanie and Rachel outside of the horse stall. Melanie remembers running to hide from their horse back riding trainer. There were seven children and six horses, so whoever couldn’t be found got to skip out on the lesson!
I convinced Melanie that these old, rusty chairs (with the accompanying table) will be a fabulous shabby chic patio set. Not to mention the nostalgia from claiming them from the barn!
Love that horseshoe, upside down to keep the luck in! It will soon be at home in the Anderson Abode.
Up the road from the barn sits the actual Ranch…a cabin filled to overflowing with heirlooms, photos, travel treasures, unexpected possessions (like this random pipe-organ) and memories. We are thrilled that Milton’s children (including my in-laws) decided to keep this place as a shared family cabin. There is just too much history to bulldoze!
…and hundreds of HATS in Diane’s closet!! We had to try them on. I LOVE that she actually wore these! All of them!!Va Va Voom! Feathers are still in!C’est à votre goût ? Giddy Up!Happy Easter!
