Dear friends, meet Sistema. The $5.00 bento box from Old Navy that has revolutionized my lunch system.
The Old System: remember about 4 minutes before we have to leave to catch the carpool lane that Dave needs something to eat for lunch. Try to throw together a quick PB&J and toss in a string cheese, and maybe the remains of yesterday’s snack from the diaper bag or dinner left-overs:) More often simply tell him “I’m sorry! Treat yourself to something nice on campus!” Bad for morale. Bad for the budget. Bad for our health. Bad non-system system.
The New System: See Sistema sitting on the counter as I’m getting Milo breakfast. Suddenly have in the front of my mind that Dave needs something to eat for lunch. Prepare PB&J’s, cut up some cheese slices, add some tortilla strips (which fit perfectly!), wrap a gogurt around the sandwich, cut up an apple, orange or banana, add a special treat. Repeat for Sistema #2, which becomes Milo & Eliot’s snack pack for the day.
Flip the lid to close the sandwich into place, fold the box in half, containing the sides, lock the latch and smile. Good for morale. Good for the budget. Good for our health. Great Sistema system.
