Yay for one-year-old Beckham!! We went up to Philadelphia on Friday to celebrate. My friend Cassi is the lens behind Sassa Art Photography and one of the inspirational women in my life. Love her.
For Beckham’s birthday Cassi hosted a delightful open house for the little guy complete with tissue puff balls, party hats, balloons, bubbles, cupcakes, and a Mr. Lion cake, which he promptly attacked with both hands. Milo enjoyed the party and squealed with excitement when we sang “Happy Birthday!”
Beckham was covered in frosting. c-0-v-e-r-e-d. I can’t wait to see some of Sassa’s art from the cake attack:) After the digging in his cake, pushing it off onto the floor, being stripped down to his diaper and wiped up and down, the birthday boy got to do just what he wanted. We found him playing with a train…under the table…in his own little birthday world!
I love this photo. Cassi is addicted to diet coke, still wearing her party hat, pushing a shopping cart filled with the party.
On Saturday the stars aligned for Cassi to do an uninterrupted session with Milo. The men went to the library at Wharton to study and Beckham fell asleep just as Milo was waking up. Photos to come…get excited, they’ll be amazing. Later in the afternoon we all went to Linvilla Orchards to absorb some more autumn. These may be the only two apples we found…the trees were pretty bare.
Bex was pretty entertained with his for a while. Can you believe those eyes? Just like his mom’s.
How delightful to see two wonderful fathers with their little sons while Cassi and I ran ahead, searching for good apples and gab gabbing.
What good looking families!!
Oh, the piles of pumpkins were perfect for autumn portraits. Milo didn’t really think so, he was interested in something…definitely not me! He’s almost sitting up…he has the strength but is working on the balance.
Cassi and I have been friends since we ran against each other for 7th grade secretary. She handed out lifesavers…and won. And here we are, 14 years later with husbands and sons! It is the kind of friendship that feels like wearing your most comfortable pajamas and still feeling beautiful. There aren’t many people I know as well, or have as many memories with.

Jordan took us to experience some of Phillys Finest– cheesesteaks at Tony Lukes.I ordered “The cheesesteak hoagie with sharp provolone instead of american, no pickles, no mayo, with onions…uh, two of those…and curly fries.” It was goood. Next time I’ll go for the cheese whiz.
Sunday we attended church in Philly. This little guy has become quite a finger/thumb sucker. I love not having to fish out a binky every three seconds. And it’s cute. He is cute. Cass also took a bunch of family portraits that I am excited to see. She’s amazing. The whole weekend was wonderful and I am so happy that the Allreds are so close! Thanks a million guys!
