Ready to pop!
At the grocery store this morning, the clerk asked if I was due anytime. When I said a couple weeks he looked worried and said “I’ll get you out of here real quick, ma’am!” as if I was about to push right there next to the 10 for $10 M&M’s! No, I think I still have a little bit of time, although I think I’m finally ready.
I’ve got all the accoutrements I can think of, plus some fun, pampering things like an appointment for a mani/pedi (from this shower) and a new nightgown from a co-worker. What a thoughtful shower gift, right? And, of course, whatever I have inevitably forgotten is only a trip to the store away. No biggie.
Things I’ll miss most about being pregnant once Eliot arrives:
Eating Frosted Flakes at eleven p.m.
Feeling little rib nudges that make me smile
Having Milo pull my shirt up to give “Baby Aye Yai” kisses and hugs
Not giving what I wear more than a two-second thought (since I’m down to about three choices that still fit…)
Getting smiles from everyone, everywhere, as if everyone is excited for a new baby
Um…that’s all.
Things I will not miss about being pregnant once Eliot arrives:
Feeling sick to my stomach (between nausea and heartburn) almost all the time
Needing to sit down on the floor to put my shoes on
Taking a break after walking up the stairs
Really, really, urgently needing to go to the bathroom, then only going a trickle (tmi?)
Watching my ankles disappear
Charlie horses in my calves in the middle of the night
Having great ideas, and no motivation to complete any of them
Lower back pain, requiring a support belt
Feeling overwhelmed by, well, just about everything
So, little man, I’m ready anytime.
Milo came on his due date (well, the day after, but I went into labor on his date).
I probably will have a couple more Project Baby posts…
…and a few more bowls of late-night cereal.
