Wow. These last nine months since Eliot was born went a lot faster than those long nine months before he was born! I have been excited about making this little video of outtakes since day one of Project Baby. It only took a normal gestational period for me get around to actually creating it:) Looking back to those pregnant days makes me appreciate some of the little things that are easy to take for granted. Like my ankles. And tying my shoes. And sleeping on my belly.
The little man was worth every ache and pound, though. He is gentle, curious, and happy.
I think Eliot inherited Dave’s easy going nature (and Milo’s wild endless energy comes from….um…eh hem.) Whether our days are exciting or more relaxed, he goes with the flow. He is getting more mobile as his curiosity forces him from his sitting position onto all fours, and then spread eagle onto the floor reaching for whatever toy, snack, or stick is inches in front of him. I think it won’t be long before he gets the hang of crawling, and then I’m in trouble. I’ve really loved having him sit quietly playing. It will be fun for him to get to play more interactively with his brother, though. I think they will be great friends.
I love the snuggle time I get with Baby Eliot when I nurse him. I feel so blessed to have those little breaks throughout the day that I am stuck just sitting and holding his soft, warm, little body as he grabs at my necklace and smiles wet smiles at my face. It’s an intimate time that I will try to hang on to for at least a few more months. Other than milk, this boy is a great eater, and we sort of skipped over baby food in about one week and went straight to small pieces of our meals (both for convenience, and because he eats it well!) Now he pretty much eats by himself, which makes a huge mess, but makes me really happy. It’s adorable.
Motherhood is a joy. It’s also the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
I’m happy for nine delightful months with Baby Eliot. Here’s to many many more!
