This is how we slept… next to the car, under the stars. Some days we slept in the car. Depended on the mosquito population of the particular region. Turns out Wisconsin has a thriving group of buggers.
From Chicago on we payed frequent tolls. 75 cents here, 1.50 there- it all adds up pretty quickly. The most expensive was the New York turnpike which charged by the mile. We ended up paying about $11 to use that great stretch of freeway.
We stopped in Detroit to visit uncle Rob and cousin Jacob. They treated us to an awesome local restaurant with the most delicious fresh poppyseed baguette. Mmmm. We played guitar hero until late (Jake was rocking the house). Rob and Dave got up early to play ward ball. Two hours later they returned sweaty and tired. Dave ended up with a little bit of a sports fever for the next two days! I guess that’s the result of 7 days of road trip followed by two hours of hard basketball. He had fun. Thanks so much Rob and Jake!
On to Niagara Falls! This thing is huge and beautiful. We drove through Ontario and arrived on the Canadian side, which has the better view. The Maid of the Mist boat took us right up underneath the falls. I was fascinated by the power of the current under the boat- Dave kept having to remind me to look up and see the falls!
Pretty spectacular! Only 2 days left on this crazy adventure.
