Day Three:
#1. Where is the metro from here? Oh, after descending the four flights of stairs it’s still that far, huh? Too bad, because I love the layout, walk-in closets, space, loft, pool, fitness center and playground. Maybe we’ll consider it.
#2. Front desk staff was rude. Why does every hallway reek? The smell does not detract from the eerie flickering lights in the long, bare hallway. Metal door, again. Nice mustard colored walls, great view of the apartment community next door where everyone here really wished they could afford. What’s that you say? The laundry costs $2.00 a load? And you are moving out because it takes you over an hour to commute into the city? Thanks for the insights! We’re moving on.
Conclusion: Window shopping on M street can be therapeutic. Mental note to be back to the car before and not at 4pm to avoid that citation. We may never find a home. But, the Lord just may have something in store. The search continues.
Day Four:
#1. I need only drive by to know that we’ll just keep driving.
#2. The GPS directs me off the freeway and away from the metro. I know the commute will be too long. Nice office staff. Pretty good looking model apartment. Okay price, but sketchy looking neighbors and too too far away.
#3. Great old complex. Short bike ride to the metro. Nice looking pool. Lots of big trees and walking paths. The building a little tough to find. Same smoke smell, a little less strong. Up two flights, new carpet, new paint, nice view, great balcony, new bathrooms. This could be the one. Uh oh, the patterned wall paper in the kitchen must be original to the building…that goes for the semi-rotting cabinets and olive green counter tops. Appliances are up to date. What’s the deal with the rest? So, I ask Sue. She ran out of money a few vital updates too soon. She would allow us to do it ourselves. Could it be worth it?
Conclusion: Robeks does taste a lot like Jamba…I needed that. (thanks Kyleen!) I dated a lot of boys before I met Dave. This is the same thing. We have to see a lot of what we don’t want before we find what will be absolutely perfect for us and will make us happy every day:) I’m getting a little tired of the apartment-dating games! Will the one I want call me tomorrow?
