Saturday was the 44th Annual Smithsonian Kite Festival on the grounds of the Washington Monument. Downtown DC is a TOTAL zoo right now because of the blossoms, but seeing the sky filled with hundreds of different, colorful kites was worth the city traffic, elusive parking, and crowded train. Seriously, click on that photo to zoom in and get a feel for what it looked like. I was awed.
Milo and I met up with our friends Erin, Adam and their little Liam, who is only a week older than Milo. We wandered the grounds, stopped to watch the trick kite competition (which was thoroughly amusing—mostly because of the guy with the ponytail and trucker hat sporting overalls to dance his kite around!!) and let the young’ns cruise around on the grass for a few minutes.
