Today I am excited to share some favorite simple tips for Spring Cleaning, in partnership with Google Home.
Simple Ways to Freshen Up Your Space
1. Make it fun
Normally in the spring, I throw the windows open to let in the breeze, dig the extra junk out of the closets, dust every available surface, and fill the house with flowers. One of my very favorite things to do while I’m cleaning is to turn on some dance tunes to put me in the mood.
When we received our Google Home for Christmas last year, I was hooked instantly on the ease and accessibility of great dance music to pump through the house. With a simple “OK Google, play some dance music” and this little device will whirl into action, turning on the beats. I love that it connects to my already set-up Pandora stations (as well as Spotify, Google Play Music, and YouTube Music.)
I can easily change stations, turn it up and down, skip songs and more, all with verbal requests! It’s awesome. I get through my household chores so much more easily with a little dancing on the side.
2. Lighten Up
Spring is the time to bust out the whites and pastels. Most of us have things in closets and tucked away in drawers that can add that spring fever to our home. I switch out some of the items in my open kitchen shelves to feel more like spring. Even without adding new stuff, a little rearranging goes a long way.
Gathering items by color, like whites or blues, always makes a fun design impact. I love the way my Goggle Home sits at the end of my ceramic canisters on the counter, as if it was meant to go there. (And it is so nice to have in the kitchen where I can say “OK Google, what’s on my shopping list?” then add to it as needed.)
3. Add Flowers
It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of greenery, plants, and flowers. There is something so powerful about having these beautiful, live pops of decor in our homes that immediately makes the spaces feel happy & fresh. I add a few bunches to my weekly grocery shopping, so I always have some on hand to arrange in small vases around the house. Even gathering wildflowers or cutting blooming branches from the yard would give that same, lovely feeling of springtime within the home.
Intentional Fresh Space
I love the feeling of making a space feel intentional, freshening it up, and adding some love in the springtime, and anytime. And I love how Google Home fits right into our lifestyle and our space, adding just a touch of ease and fun to our everyday.
In addition to playing my favorite tunes, and managing my to-do list, we use Google Home to answer math questions when we’re working on homework, set the timer for Piano practice, and even entertain us. My kids love saying “OK Google, make me laugh” and seeing what silly joke she comes up with.
I’m a huge fan, both of simple spring cleaning, and of the Google Home.
